Group 1 Crew - #Faster EP Review

Group 1 Crew has been through quite the transformation with both Pablo and Blanca leaving the band. Now it leaves only Manwell Reyes as the only original member, with 4 new members added to the roster. You can watch Blanca's video announcement on leaving the band here.

With the bands recent change in line up I was curious to check out their newest EP #Faster. The EP was just released August 12th. #Faster is the first of 2 EP's that Group 1 Crew is set to release this year. The next EP titled #Stronger is set to release November 4th.

The EP starts off with a track titled "The Wonder Years" featuring Moriah Peters. This song has a funky old school vibe. Similar to some of the old Group 1 Crew, like back on the first or second record. The next song is called "A Little Closer". This song sounds a lot like something you might hear from TobyMac, on his more recent albums. A Little Closer talks about how everyday you gotta strive to be at least just a little closer to God.

Next up is a song called "Heaven" featuring Jonathan Thulin. This song is by far my favorite on the EP! It has some fun techno sounds and thumping beats, that make you want to get up and dance. This is like a Christian clubbing song, and I absolutely LOVE it!! "Heaven" brings so much energy, so I think it would be a blast to hear live!

The next song is titled "Everyday Is A Miracle" featuring Rachael Lampa. This song is more of a fun pop song talking about how everyday that you are alive is a miracle. I really like the blend of vocals with Rachael and Manwell on this song, I think it was a good choice. Last but not least is a song called "Psalm 23" which is another one of my favorites on the EP. It is just lyrically strong and has a good sound.

All in all this was a pretty strong EP. I think it was smart for Group 1 Crew to release the new songs on 2 separate EPs just to give you a taste, and not overwhelm you with a bunch of music at once. If you are a fan a Group 1 Crew it will take some time to get use to not hearing Blanca. However, I am excited to see where this new line up and the fresh Group 1 Crew goes, and what else they release for us listeners.
